About
Giganotosaurus was a massive predatory dinosaur from South America that grew longer and heavier than most meat-eating theropods.
This predator rivaled Tyrannosaurus rex in length, placing it among the largest meat-eating land animals ever discovered. Scientists know it mainly from an individual found in Argentina that had a skull measuring more than 5 feet (1.5 m) long. Because very few fossil specimens exist, researchers do not yet know the normal size difference between males and females.

The holotype specimen was discovered in the Candeleros Formation of Patagonia in 1993 and is almost 70% complete.

Quick answer
A full-grown Giganotosaurus stretched about 41 feet (12.5 m) long, stood 13 feet (4 m) tall, and weighed roughly 18,100 pounds (8,200 kg). That made it longer than a standard city transit bus and heavier than an adult male African elephant.
