About
Native to Laos, the giant huntsman spider is an arachnid known for having the widest leg span of any spider.
While the Goliath birdeater is heavier, the giant huntsman has the largest leg span of any known spider, sometimes reaching up to 12 inches (30 cm) across. Females generally have larger bodies, but males often possess longer legs relative to their frame size. Despite having such long limbs, their bodies are unusually flat, which helps them slip into narrow rock crevices in caves.
