About
The European badger is a stocky, burrowing mammal that grows to roughly the size of a medium dog.
It is one of the largest members of the weasel family, noticeably heavier than relatives like ferrets and polecats. Males are slightly larger than females, though individual weights fluctuate substantially depending on the season. In late autumn, badgers store fat reserves that can add several pounds to prepare for the winter months. Their broad, low-slung bodies make them remarkably strong diggers despite their relatively short stature.
