About
The common starling is a compact songbird with iridescent plumage, measuring just over eight inches long.
Within the starling family, the common starling is considered medium-sized, sitting between small sparrows and larger crows. Males and females are nearly identical in dimensions, though males tend to be slightly heavier with marginally broader wings. Despite its small size, its compact, muscular body allows it to fly quickly and maneuver in tight, dense flocks. Its light frame also lets it walk and probe efficiently through turf for food.
