About
The common bottlenose dolphin is a familiar marine mammal measuring over eight feet long and weighing several hundred pounds.
Body size varies significantly across geographic regions, with dolphins in colder offshore waters growing much larger than those living along warm coasts. Adult males are generally slightly longer and heavier than females from the same population. Compared to harbor porpoises and smaller oceanic dolphins, this species is noticeably bulkier, yet it remains agile enough to launch its entire body clear of the surface.
From Wikipedia
The common bottlenose dolphin or Atlantic bottlenose dolphin is one of three species of bottlenose dolphin in the genus Tursiops. While formerly known simply as the bottlenose dolphin, this term is now applied to the genus Tursiops as a whole.
