About
The channel catfish is North America's most common catfish, growing over three feet long.
While most channel catfish caught by anglers are smaller, adults in healthy waterways regularly reach these dimensions. They are noticeably smaller than giant blue catfish, but they easily dwarf common bullheads. Both sexes grow to similar sizes, though rare trophy catches can exceed 40 pounds (18 kg) in warm southern waters.
