About
Native to Borneo, this large red-haired great ape weighs about as much as an adult human.
It is the largest of the three orangutan species and belongs to the only great ape genus native to Asia. Adult males are significantly larger than females and develop wide facial cheek pads as they mature. Despite their relatively short standing height, their arms are remarkably long, reaching up to 5 feet (1.5 m) in length.
