About
The boa constrictor is a heavy-bodied tropical snake that grows over eight feet long and weighs around forty pounds.
While large, boa constrictors are notably smaller than giant snakes like green anacondas and reticulated pythons. Female boas usually grow larger and heavier than males to help carry live young. Wild adults occasionally exceed 10 feet (3 m), but most individuals stay closer to eight feet in length. Their thick bodies make them strong constrictors, though young snakes are slender enough to spend much of their time climbing trees.
